In the table below, you’ll find the current estimated turnaround times for diamonds and colored gemstones submitted to GIA’s New York and Carlsbad laboratories. Turnaround times are updated weekly.

*These figures represent the number of weekdays between the intake date and the date that results are ready plus one day for report generation and the return process. The numbers reflect recent activity and can be used as an estimate for future outcomes.

GIA is marshalling manpower and resources to improve the time it takes for gemstones to undergo the grading and identification process. We are firmly committed to improving our turnaround time without compromising the benchmark standards of quality and accuracy that are expected in GIA reports.

To help streamline the process and improve turnaround times for diamond services, we ask that, whenever possible, you submit all diamonds weighing less than four carats to the Carlsbad laboratory, and diamonds weighing four carats and over and fancy colored diamonds to the New York laboratory.
