Diamond Services Fee Schedule

Diamond Grading Report Services 

Fees for diamonds 50.00 ct and above are available upon written request. GIA will perform Diamond Grading services on loose, unmounted diamonds only. GIA’s New York Laboratory grades diamonds 0.70 ct and above; Carlsbad Laboratory grades diamonds 0.15 ct to 9.99 ct.

GIA Diamond Dossier® Services

GIA will perform Dossier services on loose, unmounted diamonds that fall on the GIA D to Z Color Grading Scale only.

*The GIA Diamond Dossier® includes the inscription of the GIA Report number at no extra charge. Additional inscription fees apply to graphics or a single inscription of up to 15 characters, including spaces.

Dossier Secondary or Follow-Up Services

For the above services the diamond must contain original GIA Report number inscription.

Dossier Report Services

Update: 80% of Dossier Fee
Verification*: 50% of Dossier Fee
Conversion of Dossier to Diamond Grading Report (DGR): 75% of DGR Fee
Conversion of Diamond Grading Report (DGR) to Dossier: 50% of DGR Fee

For the above services the diamond must contain original GIA Report number inscription.
*Original Dossier must accompany request for all Verification services.

Colored Diamond Services

*Includes Identification and Origin service.
Fees for diamonds 50.00ct and above are available upon written request.

GIA will perform Colored Diamond Grading services on loose, unmounted diamonds only. Colored Diamond Identification and Origin services may be performed on mounted diamonds.

Diamond Laser Inscription Services

A GIA report will be issued only if the item has been graded or identified, in which case additional grading or identification fees apply.

Requests for inscription of GIA Report number, or another inscription along with an updated report, more than 60 days after completion of grading are subject to Update fees. A flat fee of $15 for Diamond Dossiers and $30 for Diamond Grading Reports is applicable for requests made within 60 days after completion of final grading.

GIA will perform Inscription services on loose, unmounted diamonds only.

Fees for diamonds 50.00 ct and above are available upon written request.

Identification Services Fee Schedule

Identification Reports
Identification reports professionally document the results of a full examination of a material. The results detailed will identify the material examined giving such identifying characteristics as color, transparency, shape, cut, dimensions weight and a color photo. The full report will also state whether it is natural or synthetic and if the material has been treated to enhance its appearance by an identifiable treatment. It will also be noted if it is a simulant with no known natural counterpart, or if it has been assembled from two or more separate components.

Re-Identification and Verification offered at 50% of the normal fee, plus any applicable rush fee.

For cabochon and rough ruby, sapphire, emerald, alexandrite and tourmaline, reduce the applicable fees by 25%.

Volume discount: (1) When 10 or more stones of the same type are submitted on one order for the same report category a reduction of 25% will apply to the total applicable fee. (2) When more than 30 stones are submitted during one calendar month a reduction of 25% shall apply – only available to clients with monthly accounts and for reports not already reduced in cost by (1).

*The reports for stones submitted for “rush” (subject to availability) will be generated within 48 hours of receipt (excluding weekends and holidays). This is a guaranteed service; if the report is not ready for pick-up on-time the report will be free of charge.

**If an opinion on the country of origin cannot be given, a standard identification report (at $120 or $220) will be issued.

Analytical Reports
Analytical reports professionally document the results of a full examination of the material as in the “Identification Report” service. In addition the Analytical Report provides the full data from which conclusions were reached. The data included would be normal gemological data such as RI, SG, visual spectroscopy, fluorescence, inclusions, color distribution, plus UV/visible/NIR, IR, and Raman spectroscopy and chemistry as appropriate.

Re-Identification and Verification offered at 50% of the normal fee, plus any applicable rush fee.

Quality Assurance Reports
Quality Assurance Reports (QAR’s) are communicated in a spreadsheet and detail only the specific information requested.

*The reports for stones submitted for “rush” (subject to availability) will be generated within 48 hours of receipt (excluding weekends and holidays). This is a guaranteed service; if the report is not ready for pick-up on-time the report will be free of charge.

Damage Assessment Report

On-site Consultancy Visits
On-site Consultancy Visits are prearranged and requested visits by GIA gemologists to the business offices or to homes of individuals who require gemological advice. This advice will be gemological in nature but may or may not involve the examination of actual stones. All advice given in the form of written reports available within one week of the visit.

**Rush is defined by lead time. Any lead time less than 7 days will be considered a Rush.

***Travel expenses will include all necessary transportation, meals and accommodation at cost.

Pearl Services Fee Schedule

Standard Identification Fees*

*Standard Identification Reports specify the quantity, weight, size, shape, color, origin (natural or cultured and type of nucleation), mollusk (if determinable), environment (saltwater or freshwater), and any detectable treatments.

Additions to Standard Identification

**Full Characterization includes all of the Identification Report information as well as classifications for luster, surface, nacre thickness and matching (if applicable).

***Necklaces, strands, jewelry items or collections that are a significant mixture of natural and cultured or a mixture of pearl varieties – if in a necklace the positions of each are indicated on the report.

****Items submitted for “rush” will be completed within 48 hours.

Shipping Instructions

Items may be submitted from anywhere in the United States or throughout the world. Please send items addressed to GIA in a sealed parcel or box.

Please provide the following information with items you are submitting:
• Specific listing of enclosed items including weight, shape, and service requested
• Signed Client Agreement (provided by GIA)
• GIA Client Number (if available)
• Return shipment information, including address, telephone number, insurance requirements, and estimated declared values.

Parcel papers must include shape and weight. You may also include your internal identification or lot number. Company name, initials, logo, phone, fax, email, website, or any other information which identifies you as the client or refers to grading information is not permitted.

Please note that there is a handling fee of $1 per item.

Synthetic Colored Diamond Services

Girdle inscription of the phrase "Laboratory Grown" plus the GIA Report number are mandatory.
Grading fees for synthetic colored diamonds 5.00 ct and above are available upon written request.
GIA will only perform Synthetic Colored Diamond Grading Services on loose, unmounted, synthetic diamonds. Synthetic Colored Diamond services may be performed on mounted diamonds.
