G&G Indexes
The Twenty-Seven Year Index is intended to serve as a concise guide to the subjects and authors found in the more than 8,200 pages that comprise the 1981–2007 issues of Gems & Gemology. This index is divided into a Subject Index and an Author Index.

1981–2007 SUBJECT INDEX (497 KB PDF file)
We have tried to make the Subject Index as complete as possible. However, this index does not cite each and every occurrence of a particular term; it gives only the articles and regular sections in which substantial information was provided for that topic. The reader is referred to the Author Index for the full title and co-authors of articles cited.
Most specific gems—except for the most commonly encountered gem varieties—are presented under their species or group name. For example, aquamarine and emerald have separate primary headings, but all other types of beryl are listed under the primary heading Beryl.
Several countries have changed their names in recent years. For these, entries are listed by the country's name at the time of this publication (March 2008). Previous names are cross-referenced and given, at our discretion, in parentheses. For entries dating back to the Soviet Union where no precise match could be found, refer to the primary heading USSR.
1981–2007 AUTHOR INDEX (112 KB PDF file)
The Author Index follows the Subject Index and lists (alphabetically, by surname) every author for whom an article or editorial was published in Gems & Gemology during the past 27 years. Editors and contributors for regularly appearing sections, book reviewers, authors of letters, and co-authors of Symposium presentations are not included in this Author Index.
