My GIA

Get started in GIA's influential Accredited Jewelry Professional diploma program for just $125.    Apply today!

It has been called the world’s most glamorous retail sector, but contrary to popular belief, jewelry doesn’t sell itself. And there’s nothing worse than standing in front of a customer and being unable to answer their questions. If you fumble with a clasp, pronounce the name of a gemstone incorrectly, or attempt to close a sale too quickly, you’ve lost a customer’s trust and their business.

To close more sales you have to know the product as well as its features and benefits. And if you close more sales, you increase your earning power.

Specially designed for sales professionals, GIA’s Accredited Jewelry Professional Diploma Program focuses exclusively on product knowledge and proven sales techniques. You learn everything you need to sell diamonds, colored stones, and gorgeous pieces of jewelry. You’ll become fluent in the language of jewelry, so you can deliver a compelling sales presentation to a client with confidence and ease. There are no technical grading or gem identification lessons. Just real-world product knowledge you need to sell jewelry with the insight of a professional.

When you complete this program, you have the knowledge and confidence to take a retail position with any of today’s jewelers around the world. What’s more, two of the courses in this program are also required for GIA’s coveted Graduate Gemologist diploma. That means if you decide to advance to the G.G. program, you’re already two steps ahead.

The AJP program is offered through distance education only and is accredited by the Distance Education Training Council (DETC).
